my lovely brand new set of pointy sticks 2.25mm dpns after just one mitt!

I am so glad that none of them actually snapped, they are lovely to knit with but not very strong!

My gauge differed so much between the hiyahiya circs and these dpns, the second mitt is about half a centimetre smaller! It's ok though cos they still fit luvverly :oD

Another Finished Object!!

it's scary really! I've started and finished something else in just a couple of days! This exclusive knitting thing could catch on you know! :oD
Here are my Genteel Cranford Mitts enjoying the afternoon... air? ::lol:: I'd say sunshine except it isn't really, it's overcast but not cold and rainy so that's got to be a bonus, right?
I have enjoyed knitting these mitts so much, not least because the merin-ooohhhhhhh is so scrummy and soft but the pattern is so well written too, so easy to follow and i now know horseshoe lace without having to look at the pattern every round which is a minor miracle :oD

Had i been able to sit and knit yesterday they would have been finished sooner but alas i was struck by a major migraine :o(
I pottered about for a couple of hours but by lunchtime i realised it was doing me no good at all and took myself off to bed with a 4head patch on my neck and a cloth over my eyes and had some sleep. I did feel a little better when i woke up at about half three and i spent the evening knitting on the sofa in front of the telly just because i find lying in bed so bloody boring!
It's more or less gone today, i just have a residual "thick head" and feel very tired, but that's probably got something to do with the fact that i was awake at 3.03am having woken from a bad nightmare and desperate for the loo. Of course, i am so pathetic i was so scared that i was unable to get up and go and lay there for an hour or so until i dozed off again until 6.03am when we both woke up. It was light by then and Bloke went first so i knew i'd be alright out of bed too. I know, it's stupid, it's unreasonable and it's insane.
I'm not sure what to cast on next! I might go for some little hats to go with the BSJs actually and then they will all be done and i can work out what i am going to do about the Bamboo Blankie - that damned hook still hasn't turned up, i am going to have to experiment with my others and see if i can get the right size ::sigh::

No pictures yet...

It's too dark for photos but the first mitt is now finished!

I made a slight modification to the contrasting garter stitch bit in the end and did it two rows of knit, one purl then two rows of knit, so although you still get the variegation it's not so IN YOUR FACE! :oD

Well, i like it anyway ::winks::

I'm going to knit the second mitt with dpns, i have a set of 2.25mm so hopefully they'll come out the same size :oD

I think they contrast a little too much for my taste, but i shall see how i feel about it when i get to the other end ;o)

I am really liking the merin-ohhhh though, it is so soft and warm, i keep pausing to try it on and then forget to take it off and start knitting again! ::lol::

I wish i could say i was enjoying knitting with my new HiyaHiya needles but unfortuntely i am not! I love the 50cm length but the actual needle is too short for my fat clumsy fingers :o(
I have struggled on regardless but i feel lie i could be knitting so much quicker if i wasn't using them! It's a shame because other than that they are perfect, the tip is nice and pointy and the cable is lovely and flexible. Still, you can't have everything and the merin-ohhh is more than making up for it :oD

merin-ohhhhhhhhh bugger!

I went a bit mad :oD
This is all Yarn Yard merin-oooooohhhhhhhh! in doses of 50g for Cranford Mitts and anything else it might want to become. I can see a hat in it's future too ;o)

I'm struggling to take nice photos at the moment, it was a lovely bright day today but the colours came out either too dark or too washed out so once i figure it out i'll take some better pics.

My first pair will be made with Mysteron and Spring Greens and they'll be cast on tonight with any luck... although there is a beaded necklace and bracelet set that i want to make that i got from Hobbycraft when i went with Mum last week. I'm thinking that that probably needs some nice bright daylight though as it looks quite fiddly.

Happy BSJ

I am really liking this "knit on one project at a time" malarky, all i have to do now is apply it to my box of WIPs :oD

I used Fyberspates sock yarn in colourway "Happy" for this and omitted the 10 ridges of 90 stitches to make it cardigan length and i think it looks lovely. Let's just hope the babies aren't huge monsters so that it'll fit for longer than a week! *lol*

My next project was going to be a hat and mittens for Ruth but the arrival of merin-ohhhhh has bumped them down and next up is Cranford Mitts for meeeeeeeee ;o)
