Race for Life!

We SO did it!!
In blazing heat we completed the 5km course in about 46 minutes!
Ruth kept me going the whole way round, she's so positive! I even managed a few stretches of jogging and for my finale i jogged my way across the finish line to meet Sadé and Caroline who had finished in about 40 minutes!
We lurked at the finish line to greet LisaB and her team across the line and then LisaE, Rachie and Gee came through about 20 minutes after us to wild applause and cheering from the four of us.
It was a fantastic day, i proved to myself that i can achieve more than i think i can: if nothing else! Plus, i raised £200 in sponsorship... £130 of which was through my JustGiving page hence me running round flashing my bra :oD

Thankyou to everyone who has supported me, sponsored me and encouraged me, it means a lot xx

I'm alive! ;o)

I made it there and back in one piece - HURRAH!
I didn't enjoy walking on the grassy bits so much, it was wet and slidy and the dog is a nuisance but the paths and pavement were lovely :oD
I timed it in sections, the first section was up into the field, across the top and then down Corkscrew Hill to Addington Road and back along to the car park which took 25.41. The next section was from the car park along the path to my turning point and that was 8.48 on the way there and 8.20 on the way back. The return leg i had the wind behind me and my eyes weren't streaming so much so it was a nicer walk :o) The last section was up to car park 2, then up into the field, across the top and back down to car park 1 and that took 10.50 so my total time is...
*drum roll*

53.41 :oD

I was aiming for an hour or less and i managed it, i'm very pleased with myself right now, i can tell you! I plan on doing that walk at least once a week and i'm going to plan some other walks using map my run that will give me just pavement walking to build up my fitness and one round Loyd Park where the Croydon Race for Life is held so i can get more used to walking on lumpy bumpy grass.

That's the plan anyway! :oD

Setting out

Well, this is it!
I have sommited myself to walking the Race for Life this year and yesterday i picked up a bargainous pair of trainers and today i am going for my first attempt! Apparantly it takes about 5 minutes to drive 5km, according to Google maps but i *think* it might take me just a little bit longer than that to walk it *lol*
I am aiming for an hour tops, but i am bearing in mind i do have the dog who does like to pee at every opportunity and it's wet out and i am breaking in new shoes and yes, i am making excuses for my poor time. I am ever the optimist *lol*
Luckily i am taking the car to the starting point and doing a circular walk so i won't have to worry about carrying lots of stuff with me, it'll be phone and poo bags in my pocket and that's all. I'm stalling!!

Right, off i go, wish me luck! :oD
