Monkey Magic!

My toe-up Monkeys are coming along nicely - i've just finished the heel and am now working my way up the cuff. These pictures were taken this morning when i had only just started the heel flap though. The first photo is the instep of the first sock, look how tight it is! On the second sock i decided to add some extra stitches inbetween the pattern repeat to add a bit of room and i have to say it's worked wonderfully :oD

You can see it if you look very closely but who's going to be doing that?? ::lol::

Here's a gratuitous shot of the rather handsome no-pick-up gusset -i shall definitely be using this in future as it is such a tidy heel and gusset and is very easy to remember... even for me!! ::lol::

Just to prove i did actually finish the Monkeys and the RootyTootyFrootys!
Taken this afternoon while out in the gloooooooooorious afternoon sunshine :o)



I love how the clours are different on each cuff, one has spiralled and the other has chevronned, both have the same amount of stitches but started in a different place, the feet have gone very similar though, weird!
I used the Boyes 3.75mm for the merinOH! and they were lovely to knit with, i might even invest in another set so that i can use 5 needles instead of 4 as i find that easier to handle :o)



The Monkeys were done on two 60cm long 2mm Addis with three pattern repeats on the cuff, something isn't quite right with one sock though, the stitches across one instep are really really tight and i am tempted to rip the whole foot back and fix it, it's very annoying as they are an otherwise lovely pair of socks and in the Southen United football teams colours too :oD

Wednesday update

No knitting yesterday, i went to visit Mum and took her to a new (to us) yarn shop where we spent about two hours drinking coffee and rummaging through various baskets of buttons and beads and Mum perused hundreds of patterns looking for tops that aren't designed "for stick insects" as she puts it :oD
I managed to get most of the foot done on Monday though so i have about half an inch before the toe, unfortunately i am out tonight so won't get it finished until tomorrow, possibly Friday cos i'm out tomorrow night too! I really would much rather be knitting than going out, although i will enjoy myself when i'm out i really enjoy watching the sock growing. Is it "sad" or unsociable to want to sit and knit all the time? I am determined to finish it by the end of this week though as i still have a Monkey to start and finish by the end of the month!
This afternoon i am mostly sewing Secret Pal Stuff and other Swap parcel stuff and trying out a new bag design which is turning out to be rather complicated - it shall be the first and last time i make it! Still, i am happy with the result, it's just too fiddly to do all the time, i shal be reverting to my tried and tested method for future bags :o)

Just an update post on the progress of the Monkeys :o)
I am 3" into the foot with 3" to go until i decrease for the toe - unfortunately the merino arrived and i have been playing with the Tooty Frooty this afternoon ;o)

Monkeys...

Have been started! *doing a happy dance*
First i made a yummy yarn cake...



Then i swatched...

Then i cast on and got knitting and so far i have 6 rows of 2x2 ribbing and 1½ pattern repeats

The pattern is a nice symmetrical one, i have the printout in my lap to remind me at the start of the round and by the second half of the round i know what i am doing
I've gone back to one sock, two circs for this one for some reason and it's flying along
