Well, it is Oscar season!

I've been given an award!

It's the ever-so-popular "you make my day" award and it was given to me by CJ (blog) in celebration of a shared love of ratties! I am thrilled that my ramblings mean something to someone else and it's kind of made me think (yet again) about why i write the blog.

I mainly do it for me. I have a terrible memory and easily forget details so i figured it would be a good way of having a lasting record of my not-very-interesting life and goings on. I like being able to look back over a knitting project and see it in it's varying stages and read what i was thinking about it at the time. It's also so nice to have a record of the ratties - they grow up so fast that seeing them every day you forget how small and active they used to be! When we go to VW shows i tend to get a bit drunk (hahaha - for bit, read extremely!) and so i like to record any memories i do have of the weekend cos they will so quickly vanish from my head!
I also write my blog with other people in mind. If i do a particular crafty project i hope that any notes i make about it will help other people who may be attempting the same thing themselves, i know that my blog reading certainly aids me and i want to try and give that back - does that sound as pompous to you as it does to me? I struggle to voice my thoughts eloquently sometimes and use the wrong words - i blame the internets and old age :oD
To be honest though, and i am almost exclusively brutally honest in my "real life", much to my own dismay sometimes as the truth really can be hurtful, if nobody read my blog i wouldn't mind. Now, don't get me wrong, i absolutely love that people read it and even more, i love that they are inspired to comment as it really does boost my spirits when i am down and to receive praise for something i've made, well, that's always appreciated isn't it! But, if for some reason the internets broke and other people weren't able to read it, i'd still keep it. Just for me :o)

Now, i hope that this hasn't upset anyone, that really isn't my intention at all and i'd be really interested to hear what you think about it. Yes, you, i know you're there ;o)

Actually I totally agree with you. I love reading back over my own blog and am often surprised at my own eloquence over something which, as is with me too, is no longer even in my memory!
