A TootyFrooty Story :o)

So, after the frenzied buying on Friday evening my spoils arrived this morning. And what spoils they are!! Total gorgeousness wrapped in the trademark purple tissue paper. The light indoors is rubbish cos it's just so cloudy and dreary so i made the most of a dry spell and dashed outside for a photo shoot :oD
Here, in delicate yet vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow we have Tooty Frooty. She's a happy skein, made up of a plump and very sproingy merino, very squishable and she doesn't smell too bad either :o)

After ten minutes on the carousel Tooty Frooty had been magically transformed into a rather fetching yarncake, i can't show you the whole thing, it would send you right over the edge!

Half an hour later and January YYC sock was feeling neglected as i cast on and did a little Tooty Frooty swatching with the lovely purple Boyes that accompanied Tooty Frooty on her journey from Scotland. It would seem that the merino is definitely thicker than the usual YY yarn as my gauge came out at a whopping 7spi with the 2.75mm Boyes and it wasn't gappy at all, just perfick in fact! YAY! :oD
I tried a 3x3 rib, a 3x3 slipped stitch rib and some stocking stitch over 37 stitches (2 stitch garter border)

Then we were away! i love the way the colours are pooling together in wedge shapes, i hope it continues down the cuff :o)
Here we are after a short time, they really are zippy those Boyes and the yarn is so soft to handle, i may be in luuuuuuurve *lol*
I've settled on a 3x2 rib with a slipped stitch on the middle knit stitch of the three on every other row but with the way it's pooling the slip isn't really that obvious, i'll keep it up though cos the colours are moving gradually round :o)
I will be doing the whole of the cuff in this pattern, then either a short row heel or a forethought heel (again! ;o) ) with a slight increase from 60 stiches to 64 at the heel and the foot will be worked in stocking stitch :o)
